And the moral of this story? I had a great vacation and got the much needed emotional, creative, and psychological recharges that I was in such dire need of. Of course, this fails to take into account that I will be spending the next week trying to recharge physically and mentally, but oh well.
To all those who I’ve been neglecting over the past several days (or weeks, in some cases), including those blogs that I regularly read and respond to, my apologies. I’ll be playing catch up soon.
And now, to close out my Holiday Road series, are the lyrics to the song that I will sing to anyone who asks why I spent 4 days, hundreds of dollars, and many outright dull miles of travel to go to a convention for freaks and ne’er do wells when all of these resources could have been better spent on other things I am in need of, like rent and food:
They got it comin’…
Been a long time since I saw my own mind
And I showed it to the world, cause I knew they made it shine.
I was movin’ in the shadows, always looking at the past,
Still I turned around and knew my troubles wouldn’t last.
Always, Always, put my faith in new days.
Monday, Wednesday… They got it comin’…
Cause I’m… Dancing and I’m feeling fine
Been so long, I don’t know why.
Turn up the light.
This is my time, this is my time.
Been a long time since I got along fine,
Since I felt my own rhythym running down my spine.
No more funky situations, nothing keeping me from singing
Every second, every minute,
Every hour of the day.
Always, Always, put my faith in new days.
Monday, Wednesday, They got it comin’
Cause I’m… Dancing and I’m feeling fine
Been so long, I don’t know why.
Turn up the light.
This is my time, this is my time.
